Meantime, The Inaugural RLI Arts Festival occurred over the October Long Weekend in 2011, from 1 - 3 October and was an exciting, fun and inspirational event that introduced many new people to The RLI and the Randwick Art Society. With all four halls & the Secret Garden open over the three-day holiday weekend, we had a massive collection of art both on display and for sale, including the exhibition of Better Book Cover art work, which received some inspired entries!
Below are some images of each of the four halls during The RLI Art Festival
The Bruce Walsh Hall that exhibited the fun and talented art work of the Better Book Covers Art Competition Winners
The Main / Dance Hall that hosted a range of craft works from handmade candles and jewelery to natural perfumes, beautiful wooden sculptures, quilts that tell their own bedtime stories, lamps that illuminate dreams and other wonderful hand painted artefacts
The Blue Room that showcased a sea of easel-based paintings, sculptural figurines and the nebulus world of a soothsayer!
The Sands that had landscape, still life and portrait paintings hung from it's sunlit walls and also housed a demonstration nook for visiting & resident artists to work throughout the art festival
The Randwick Literary Institute would like to thank Randwick City Council for their generous support of the Better Covers Art Exhibition that went on to inspire The Inaugural RLI Arts Festival. The RLI also thanks The Randwick Art Society for their generous volunteer work & all of their wonderful art
